CDN
A network of servers that keep copies of a site's files close to the people asking for them.
A content delivery network caches images, scripts and stylesheets in many locations, so a visitor in Jakarta gets them from Jakarta rather than from Virginia. It is the single cheapest performance improvement available to most sites.
It also absorbs traffic spikes, which is why a small site behind one survives being linked from somewhere large.
Where Naven stands
Naven is served from a CDN by default, since the same edge network that runs its code also serves its files.
