Naven

Is Naven legit? Who makes it?

Yes: Naven is a real, working messaging app at navenapp.com, first released in July 2026 and built and run by one independent developer. It is free, has no advertising and sells nothing; there is nothing to buy and no cryptocurrency. It is young and small, it holds no certifications, and its pages say so rather than presenting it as larger than it is.

Whether something online is legitimate is usually a question about who is behind it, how it makes money, and whether its claims can be checked. Those are the facts that matter here.

Who is behind it

Naven is designed, built and run by one independent developer, who is responsible for the interface, the server, the infrastructure and the support. The developer page at navenapp.com/developer says who that is and how to reach them. The children's privacy notice names the operator, as the US children's privacy law requires.

How it pays for itself

It does not charge members and shows no advertising. It runs on the free tiers of its providers, with hard limits so that nothing can run up a bill. The only paid work is a custom version built for one organisation, quoted per organisation and agreed in writing. Naven does not sell personal information or message content, and has no token, coin or anything else to buy.

What you can check for yourself

  • The status page, at navenapp.com/status, is probed about every five minutes and keeps ninety days of history.
  • The reliability page publishes measured uptime and error figures with their dates.
  • The safety page lists exactly what is screened and what is not.
  • The newsroom and screening pages publish figures read from Naven's own database, with the query used.
  • Every contact address reaches a person: hello@navenapp.com, help@navenapp.com, safety@navenapp.com, press@navenapp.com.

Names that are not Naven

  • Navan (navan.com): corporate travel and expense software. Its reviews and complaints are about Navan.
  • Naven Network (naven.network): a payments company with a cryptocurrency token called NAVEN.
  • naven.app: a tool that saves AI conversations to Notion.
  • Naver: the South Korean web portal.
  • Naven Health: a home-infusion nursing company.

What Naven does not claim

Naven holds no certification or seal — not COPPA, FERPA, SOC 2 or ISO 27001. Its source code is not public. It is not end-to-end encrypted. It promises no privacy, security or uptime; its terms say so. Those are stated on its own pages so that nobody has to discover them.
