Naven

A tour of Naven in 26 seconds

Nine screens from the real app, one after another. There is no voice-over; what each scene shows is written out below, with a link that starts the video there.

Every frame is a screenshot of the running app. Nothing is drawn.

What each scene shows

  1. 0:00 Naven on a laptop. The conversation list beside an open conversation, in a browser tab. Nothing to install.
  2. 0:02 Your conversations. The same account on a phone: conversations, groups and filters for who is online.
  3. 0:05 A conversation. Messages with reactions and read receipts. The line under the composer says content screening is on.
  4. 0:08 A message that was not sent. Naven explains why: it gave away where somebody lives. The writer is told which rule it met.
  5. 0:11 A group chat. A group with a member typing. Groups are made from a link, with no phone numbers.
  6. 0:14 A poll. Which night suits everyone, answered inside the conversation.
  7. 0:16 An event. A time and a place, with Going, Maybe and Can’t, and a reminder.
  8. 0:19 Channels. Public and invite-only channels, and AI news channels that link every source.
  9. 0:22 Naven AI. A private assistant with suggested questions. Photos are screened before it reads them.

What the tour does not show

Calls, the Forum, themes and the parent controls are not in it. Calls are not screened at all, and Naven is not end-to-end encrypted: the server reads each message so that it can screen it before it is delivered. The screen is automated and misses things. What Naven screens, and what it does not.

Naven is a free messenger that runs in your browser. No phone number, nothing to install, and no new password.
