Naven is a website. It works on managed Chromebooks, lab computers and family laptops with nothing to install, and students need no phone number.

Screening before delivery

Every message is checked before it is delivered, with stricter rules for younger students: threats, bullying, sexual content, scams, drug deals and personal details are refused. It is automated and makes mistakes, and every refusal is re-read with its context afterwards.

Parent consent, handled

Under-13 accounts cannot send until a parent’s signed consent is verified — or your school gives consent for accounts it creates for its own students, under a signed agreement.

Parent controls

Parents get a page to pause an account, limit contacts, calls, AI and daily time, see who their child talks to, and delete the account — without reading the messages.

Naven can create student and staff accounts in bulk, each with a temporary password replaced at first sign-in. No personal email addresses required.

What Naven can and cannot say

Naven is a small, independent product. Nothing on this page is a promise, a warranty or a guarantee. What a custom version includes, what it costs and when it is ready are agreed in writing, organization by organization, and nothing is included until that agreement is signed. Naven holds no SOC 2, ISO 27001 or HIPAA certification today. The public Naven app screens messages, so it is not end-to-end encrypted; a custom version can be, and the trade-off is explained before you choose. Screening is automated and makes mistakes. The Terms apply to everything else.

Is Naven safe for students?

Naven screens every message before delivery with stricter rules for younger students, requires verified parental consent for under-13s, gives parents their own controls, and re-reads every refusal with its context. It is automated software and makes mistakes in both directions, so it supports a district’s own policies and supervision rather than replacing them. Naven does not guarantee that any content will be caught.

Does Naven work on school Chromebooks?

Yes. Naven runs in the browser, so managed Chromebooks, lab computers and shared devices work with nothing to install. If your web filter blocks navenapp.com, your IT team can allow it.

Will Naven sign our data privacy agreement?

Naven has its own data processing agreement template and can work from your state’s standard agreement instead, such as the California Student Data Privacy Agreement. Terms are agreed per district.

Can the school give COPPA consent for students under 13?

For accounts the school creates for its own students, for school use, under a signed agreement with Naven — yes, as the FTC allows. Otherwise a parent gives verified consent by signed form.

How much does a district version cost?

It is quoted per district, not per student, and priced for public-school budgets. Pilots are welcome. Email schools@navenapp.com.
