Naven’s standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation
Naven prohibits child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) of every
kind, with no exception. That includes: sexual content involving anybody under 18; sexualising a minor;
grooming; sextortion; soliciting sexual images or contact from a minor; arranging to meet a minor for a
sexual purpose; and trafficking. It applies to messages, photos, voice notes, files, channels, display
names, profile photos and Naven AI.
How Naven acts on it
- Screening before delivery. Messages and images are screened by automated systems before
they are sent, with the strictest rules applied to accounts for minors. Screening makes mistakes and is
not a promise that nothing gets through.
- Suspension. Sexual solicitation or anything sexual involving a minor suspends an account
on the first instance, for five weeks, without a warning first.
- Removal. Naven removes content that breaks these standards when it becomes aware of it,
and closes the accounts responsible.
- Reporting to the authorities. Naven reports apparent child sexual abuse material to the
National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline, as US law requires
(18 U.S.C. § 2258A), and cooperates with law enforcement.
- Children under 13 cannot use Naven until a parent’s signed consent is verified, and
cannot share their location or send a home address or phone number.
How to report
- In the app: open the conversation’s menu and choose Report, then
Endangering a child. Reports in that category are marked urgent.
- By email: shervin@shapoury.com, any time, including if you do not have an account.
- Directly to NCMEC: report.cybertip.org
or 1-800-843-5678.
If a child is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (911 in the US) first.
