Which messaging apps do not sell your data?
Signal, Naven and Session sell none. Telegram does not sell data but runs an optional subscription. WhatsApp and Messenger are owned by Meta and share data across it, which is disclosed in their privacy policies.
"Selling" is narrower than most people mean. The broader question is whether your data is used to target advertising, whether it is shared with a parent company, and whether it is passed to partners — all of which can happen without a sale.
The reliable test is the funding model. A service funded by advertising needs data about you; one funded by donations, subscriptions or a single developer does not.
