How to leave a channel
Leaving a channel is yours to do and does not need anybody's permission.
Step by step

Open the channel
From Channels in the sidebar.

Use its menu
Leave is there.

You are out
It disappears from your list and stops notifying you.

Rejoin with the link if you change your mind
A public channel's link still works; a private one needs the invite again.
Worth knowing
- Muting is the alternative if the problem is volume rather than the space itself.
- Leaving a private channel means needing the invite link again to return.
- What you posted stays in the channel. Leaving removes you, not your contributions.

Can the channel owner stop me leaving?
No.
Will people be told I left?
Membership changes are visible in the channel.
Can I delete my posts before I go?
You can unsent individual messages, which leaves a note that a message was unsent.
