What is the best messaging app for a club or society?
Something joined by a link rather than by somebody adding each member, and something that does not require exchanging phone numbers. A Naven channel or a Discord server both fit; a WhatsApp group does not.
Clubs have turnover, which is what breaks group chats: every new member is a manual addition by whoever holds the list, and when that person leaves the group becomes unmanageable.
A link-joined space fixes this. New members join themselves, and somebody who arrives in month six can read what happened in month one.
A Naven channel is created with a name and an emoji and produces a link. A private channel's link carries a secret, so only people sent it can join.
