How to add Naven to your home screen
Adding Naven to the home screen gives it an icon and its own window. On an iPhone it also does something less obvious: it is the only way notifications will work at all.
Step by step

On an iPhone or iPad
Open navenapp.com in Safari, tap the Share button, scroll down and choose Add to Home Screen.

On Android
Open navenapp.com in Chrome, open the menu, and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.

Open it from the icon from now on
The installed version runs without browser chrome and keeps you signed in.

Then turn on notifications
Settings, then Notifications. On an iPhone this step only works once Naven is on the Home Screen.
Worth knowing
- Nothing is downloaded from an app store. The site is already there; this gives it a shortcut and some extra permissions.
- Apple only delivers web notifications to a site installed this way. That restriction is Safari's, not Naven's, and it catches a lot of people out.
- Remove it like any other icon. Nothing is left behind.
Questions
Do I need the App Store to install Naven?
No. Naven is not in any app store. Adding it to the home screen is a browser feature and takes a few seconds.
Why do I need to install it to get notifications on my iPhone?
Safari refuses to deliver web push to a site that has not been added to the Home Screen. Every website is subject to this, not just Naven.
Does it take up storage?
Almost none. There is no app binary — it is the same web page with an icon pointing at it.
