Email code sign-in
Signing in with a code emailed to you instead of a password.
Sometimes called a magic code or one-time code. It proves the person can read an address, which is the same thing a password reset proves — so a password on top of it adds a secret to steal without adding a check.
Its weaknesses are email account security and delivery: if the inbox is compromised so is the account, and a code in a spam folder is a failed sign-in.
