Reduced motion
A system setting that asks software to stop moving things around.
Vestibular disorders make large animated movement genuinely unpleasant and sometimes nauseating. Every major operating system exposes a switch, and browsers pass it to pages as a media query.
The common mistake is to read it as "remove all animation", which also freezes loading spinners and typing indicators — the animations that convey status rather than decoration. The right reading is "replace movement with something still".
Where Naven stands
Naven keeps its spinners spinning under reduced motion and replaces travel with cross-fades, because a frozen spinner reads as a crashed app rather than as a considerate one.
