How to set up a passkey
A passkey lives on your device and is unlocked with a fingerprint, a face or a PIN. It is faster than typing anything and it is the only credential here that a convincing fake page cannot steal.

Open Settings
From the sidebar.

Find the Passkeys section
It lists any passkeys already set up on this account.

Add one
Your device asks for a fingerprint, a face or its PIN. That is the whole setup.

Use it next time
Signing in becomes one gesture instead of waiting for an emailed code.
Worth knowing
- A passkey is tied to the device it was made on. Set one up on each device you use often.
- It is also tied to the domain. A passkey made for Naven is meaningless on any other site, which is exactly why phishing does not work against it.
- It is worth having one before you need it: if you lose access to your email address, a passkey is the way back in.
Questions
What is a passkey?
A key pair stored on your device. The private half never leaves it and is unlocked by a fingerprint, a face or a PIN.
Is a passkey safer than a password?
Substantially. It cannot be reused on another site, cannot be guessed, and cannot be handed to a fake page — the browser refuses to use it on the wrong domain.
What if I lose my device?
Sign in with an emailed code as usual, and set up a passkey on the new device. The old one stops being useful to anybody.
