Notification permission
The browser's one-time question about whether a site may interrupt you.
Browsers allow a site to ask once. Decline, and the site cannot ask again — the reader has to find the setting themselves, usually behind the padlock in the address bar. Some browsers now require a user gesture before the prompt can appear at all, because of how widely it was abused.
The practical consequence is that asking on page load wastes the only chance there is.
