How to turn on notifications
Naven can tell you about a reply even when the tab is closed, but the browser has to let it — and that permission is asked once.
Step by step

Open Settings
From the sidebar.

Find Notifications and sound
The Notifications row says what state you are in now: off, on while Naven is open, or on including when it is closed.

Turn them on
The browser asks its own permission question. Allow is what turns on the kind that works with the tab closed.

Check it says so
The row updates to "On, including when Naven is closed". If it says "On while Naven is open" instead, the browser permission was declined or is blocked.
Worth knowing
- Notification permission is per browser and per device. Turning it on at home does not turn it on at work.
- If you blocked notifications by accident, Naven cannot ask again — browsers only allow one prompt. You change it in the browser's own site settings, usually behind the padlock in the address bar.
- On an iPhone or iPad, add Naven to the Home Screen first. Apple only delivers web notifications to an installed web app.
Questions
Why am I not getting notifications when Naven is closed?
Either the browser permission was declined, or — on an iPhone or iPad — Naven has not been added to the Home Screen. Apple only delivers web push to a web app that has been installed that way.
Can I get an email instead?
Naven emails you when a message has been waiting a while and nothing else told you about it. That is on by default and can be turned off in Settings.
Will notifications show the message?
No. A notification says who it is from, not what they said.
