No-install messaging
Messaging that runs on a web page, with nothing to download.
The barrier an app store puts between a person and a conversation is larger than it looks: an account, a download over mobile data, storage space, and on a managed device an administrator's permission that will not be given. Removing it changes who can be reached.
The cost is that a web app has less access to the device than a native one — background behaviour and notifications are more constrained, particularly on iOS.
Where Naven stands
This is Naven's core architectural choice. The whole product is a web page, which is why it works on a school Chromebook, a library computer and a borrowed phone.
